Protecting New Mexicans

We need a New Mexico that allows hard-working families to make a decent living and provide for their families. We need a New Mexico that allows working families access to affordable health care. We need a New Mexico that allows families to do this without working so many jobs and so many hours that they lose their children while trying to provide for them. Gangs, Drugs, Violence, and D.W.I are all taking our children–alll while the parents choose between paying the bills and helping their children with their homework. Latch-key children take care of themselves with video games and computers while parents work to make a living.

We need a New Mexico where our seniors can afford their medical care, where they don’t have to decide between food and prescriptions. We need a New Mexico where long-term care is available for families and loved ones who require it for their mothers and fathers. We need a New Mexico where the John Hydes of this state receive in patient care and their mental health needs are fulfilled before there’s a tragedy. I want to work on your behalf to build that New Mexico.

For twelve years, I have protected our streets, our homes and our children as a City Police Sergeant and Sheriff of Santa Fe County. I have seen the tragedies of domestic violence, the deaths of D.W.I. and the pain of gangs and drugs. I have worked to curb these ills in Santa Fe County. Together, with the help of my great deputies and staff, we have made a difference at the local level.

Now, I want to be the “New Sheriff in the State”–the one who will work to protect your values, your tax dollars, New Mexico’s Jobs, and New Mexico’s Environment.
